Innovative Cardiovascular Solutions for Today and Tomorrow

Explore the forefront of cardiovascular surgical research and innovation.

Our
Mission

We are dedicated to advancing the future of cardiovascular surgery through innovation, research, and education. Led by Dr. Tom C. Nguyen, the lab brings together clinicians, trainees, researchers, and collaborators to improve patient outcomes through minimally invasive surgery, structural heart research, digital health, and surgical innovation. Our mission is to transform bold ideas into safer, smarter, and more effective cardiovascular care for patients.

Meet our leader: Tom C. Nguyen, M.D.

Dr. Nguyen is an internationally recognized minimally invasive heart surgeon specializing in complex cardiovascular surgery, minimally invasive valve surgery, structural heart disease, and advanced heart and vascular care. He serves as System Chief Executive of Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care, Chief Medical Executive of Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Barry T. Katzen Endowed Chair, and Chair and Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences at Florida International University.

Dr. Nguyen’s clinical and academic work focuses on advancing minimally invasive and transcatheter approaches to cardiovascular disease, particularly valve disease.
